This five-bedroom contemporary Western cabin in Teton Village offers expansive views of the southern Tetons and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), which, in winter, is a short shuttle ride away. In the exclusive Shooting Star development, the casually sophisticated Four Pines 5 is the perfect Jackson Hole retreat for your family and friends.
Four Pines 5 was designed by local starchitect John Carney of Carney Logan Burke Architects—Carney also did the JHMR tram building at the base of JHMR and the Visitor Center at the Laurence Rockefeller Preserve in Grand Teton National Park. (The latter was the first LEED-certified visitor center in any national park and should be a must-visit on your Jackson Hole vacation. The short hike from this visitor center to Phelps Lake is worth the effort. Or you can just relax in the rocking chairs on its front porch.)
At Four Pines 5 you can relax in an outdoor hot tub set into a southwest-facing stone patio off of the combined kitchen/dining/living room. The hot tub looks out on JHMR’s Rendezvous and Apres Vous Mountains, while, about 20 feet away, a creek flows past.
Inside, this mountain cabin combines the essence of the mountain west—think reclaimed timber, exposed stonework, and contemporary Western artwork—with modern conveniences like a professional grade kitchen, flat-screen televisions, and an efficient floorplan.
The master suite, which has a king size bed, is the north wing of the ground floor. In it you’ll find an expansive walk-in closet, a master bath with a walk-in shower, deep soaking tub, double vanity, and WC, and a sitting area in front of a gas fireplace. Exposed reclaimed timber beams accent this suite’s cathedral ceiling. The overall vibe of this suite is light and airy thanks to a cool color palette and lots of natural light—three walls have windows; the biggest windows face north to JHMR. Western windows look out on the creek.
The largest of this home’s public spaces—the combined kitchen/dining/great room—is in the center of the ground floor. There is seating for three at a kitchen bar and a dining table that accommodates ten. In front of the wood-burning fireplace in the living area there is a huge couch flanked by colorful armchairs upholstered in antique kilim.
At the opposite end of the ground floor from the master suite is a colorful den, which may also be set up as a nursery.
The rest of the ground floor is dedicated to utilitarian spaces—gear storage, the laundry room, and an attached garage.
The second floor has the junior master suite, three guest suites, a wet bar, and a cozy landing area with a sitting area. The junior master suite, which is in the southern wing of this floor, can be accessed by a private entrance on the ground floor. This suite is as light and airy as the downstairs master suite and includes a four-panel watercolor painting of the entire Teton Range hanging above and to the sides of a king size bed. Just outside this suite’s entrance is a wet bar.
The other second floor suites include: a suite with a king size bed and bathroom with a single vanity and walk-in shower; a bunk suite with four bunks and a bathroom with two single vanities and a walk-in shower; and a suite with two twin beds and a bathroom with a combined shower/bathtub and a double vanity.
Grand Teton National Park is two miles down the road from Four Pines 5. Both the Town of Jackson and the cute community of Wilson are a 20-minute drive. The restaurants, shops, and spas of Teton Village are a 15-minute walk or short shuttle ride away.
