Granite Ridge Lodge 1 is a handsome, three-story home perched at the base of Rendezvous Mountain in Teton Village. A little rocky stream tumbles down the mountainside, curving around the house on its way to join the Snake River; its musical sound rings through when the windows are open.
The living and dining areas share a big, open, sunny space on the middle level. A wood-burning stone fireplace sends light dancing round the room – and it is magical to sit in the living room’s deep armchairs while snow sifts down outside the big windows, warming one’s feet by the fire with a glass of wine and a good companion. A wet bar stands to one side of the hearth, and a flat screen TV is tucked in a media cabinet on the other.
The kitchen is separated from the open living/dining space by a stone-topped breakfast bar. A center island holds a prep sink and plenty more counter space – this is a compact but well-designed kitchen, with ample storage and lots of room to work. Top-notch cookware, a Belgian waffle maker and even a collection of “ski cuisine” cookbooks may inspire the family chef. Steps away, a beautiful, sculptural antler chandelier illuminates the 10’ wood dining table.
Granite Ridge Lodge 1 has a big, airy master bedroom on the top floor. A beamed wood ceiling rises over a king size bed and substantial stone fireplace. A television and a DVD player are hidden in the armoire. A door opens to a private deck where two Adirondack twig chairs look out to the ski mountain. There is a huge walk-in closet and a roomy private bath with double sinks, a soaking tub, and separate, glass-walled shower.
Near the master bedroom, there is a large, comfy, wood-floored sitting room, with long leather couches surrounding a circular cowhide ottoman. One sofa can be pulled out to a full-size bed; a flat screen TV hangs on the wall. Just off the sitting area there is a charming, carpeted bedroom with matching twin beds covered in crimson lumberjack plaid; and an en suite bath. French doors open to a private porch. Heavy drapes may be pulled for privacy and light control.
A guest bedroom which shares the middle level with the living areas, is a sumptuous space, with a king size bed flanked by matching side tables and reading lamps, an upholstered slipper chair, and massive windows on two sides with views up to the mountaintops. In the private bathroom, double sinks stand next to a soaking tub and a separate shower. The bedroom has a big walk-in closet as well.
On Granite Ridge Lodge 1 lower level, a cozy TV and game room is the spot for poker night, reading, movies, or just taking a nap. Adjacent to the game room there is a wonderful bunkroom, with two rustic, peeled wood bunk beds – one with a double bed on the bottom for an older child, or anyone who needs extra sleeping space. Each bunk bed has its own wall-mounted light and piles of pillows for reading in bed. The bunkroom has its own bathroom, with a tub/shower combination.
The two-car garage has a dedicated “ski corner” with lots of gear storage, a rack for skis and a ski boot warmer – invaluable on icy mornings. There are three furnished outdoor spaces, the largest being the stone patio at the back of the house. Here a gas grill and a teak dining table with eight chairs call for celebratory dinners under the stars. The big, jetted hot tub can fit six tired but happy skiers at the end of a long day on the slopes.
Bordered by Grand Teton National Park, Granite Ridge Lodge 1 is also an alpine paradise in summer and features central air, ensuring a comfortable stay. There is no end of things to do in any season – shopping, tram rides, horseback riding, ski school, hang gliding - and when evening comes, the Village offers casual nightlife, excellent restaurants and even espresso stands. Granite Ridge Lodge 1 is the perfect jumping off spot for all these adventures.
