In the desirable East Jackson neighborhood, Hall Haven is a cozy, quirky, stylish log cabin that is within easy walking distance of downtown Jackson’s boutiques and restaurants, Snow King Mountain, and hiking and biking trails into the Bridger-Teton National Forest. Whether in Jackson Hole for a vacation or testing out the valley as a potential home, this cabin is the perfect base camp.
The main level of this 2,600-square foot house has a bright and airy great room, a professional-grade kitchen, and two bedrooms that share a bathroom. The upper level has a sitting/media area and the master suite. Both floors have decks: a south facing backyard deck is off the ground floor; upstairs, there is an oversize north-facing deck off the master bedroom that has views of the ski runs across the valley at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Throughout the house, the floors are heated and the log walls have been whitewashed.
The lower level, set up as an apartment, it has one bedroom, a full bathroom, a kitchen, and great room. The basement can be accessed from the common areas of the main level, but also has its own entrance.
Throughout the house and basement, the owner, an interior designer who completely remodeled the space, placed thoughtfully curated artworks, lighting, and furniture alongside whimsical details, like the 3-D metal, backward “BIG” on the wall inside the front entrance, or the reclaimed stair treads up to the loft. He found the former at the popular Mountain Dandy showroom in downtown Jackson. The stair treads were formerly trusses of a dry dock; the owner decided not to fill in the holes on them from screws that were removed. “I liked the character of the holes, and, with the steel railing, they speak to the mix of industrial and modern throughout the house,” he says. One of the ground floor bedrooms has an original oil painting from French Cubist Reynold Arnould. The owner found it at a Paris flea market. Other artwork includes paintings by Duke Beardsley and David Slonim. “I wanted an aesthetically clean, cozy vibe that was modern, but retained mountain character,” the owner says.
In the kitchen, a round dining table seats five and a kitchen island has stools for three. Dacor appliances and ample counter space make prepping and cooking here easy; all of the natural light makes working in this kitchen a dream (even doing dishes is nice—the sink is set beneath a deep window looking into the side yard). When the weather permits, leave the windows and oversize sliding doors open and enjoy indoor/outdoor living.
If your group includes kids, Mike Yokel Park, a two-minute walk from the front door, has a playground, picnic pavilions, an open expanse of grass perfect for games of tag or catch, and a creek. Snow King Resort is a little farther, but not much. Here you’ll find hiking, a treetop adventure park, artificial climbing walls, mini-golf, mountain biking, and an alpine slide in the summer and, in the winter, skiing/snowboarding and tubing. Year-round it has an alpine coaster that kids and adults love. Once your lodging is secured, a member of The Clear Creek Group Concierge team will work with you to build an itinerary for your visit to Jackson Hole!
