Tucked into the village-like setting of Shooting Star, Shooting Star Cabin 08 is a fine blend of Wyoming architectural high style and rustic cabin comfort. The main living areas and the primary bedroom are on the upper level, where the views are wide and open and the rooms feel as if they are floating; while the guest bedrooms are below on the first floor, where doors open right to the terrace, the hot tub and the great wild valley. In the great room, a high, barn-like ceiling vaults over the wood-burning fireplace, the deep leather armchairs and couch. The smooth wooden dining table, a polished counterpoint to the rustic cabin character, seats eight with ease. Just steps away, the breakfast bar with seating for three divides the dining room from the kitchen, and doubles as a convenient serving buffet. The kitchen is quite spacious, and very well-equipped: the Sub-Zero system includes multiple freezer and refrigeration drawers, a wine cooler and a large single door refrigerator. Dual sinks make quick work of prep and clean up; while wall ovens, a warming drawer and microwave complement the Wolf 6‑burner range and oven.
Just past the kitchen, a roomy landing serves as a sitting room; a TV rises up out of the sideboard at the touch of a button. A powder room is located right off the landing. A window-lined hallway heads off from the landing toward the high-ceilinged primary suite, where the king size bed faces the soft flicker of a huge stone, gas fireplace. The Gros Ventre Mountains and the ski slopes fill up the mullioned windows; a writing desk stands in an alcove. The bath is large and luxurious, paneled in creamy wood, with a big walk-in shower, a soaking tub, and a separate water closet.
Shooting Star Cabin 08’s main level is made up of two wings: one for utilitarian pursuits – with a laundry center, the heated two-car garage and a mudroom with ample storage for jackets, skis and boots; and another wing for sleeping. Guest Bedroom One has a king bed, wrapped with mountain views and a wide stone gas fireplace. This room’s bath has a separate water closet, a tub/shower combination and dual sinks set in a stone-topped vanity.
Guest Bedroom Two has two rustic but deeply comfortable twin beds flanking a shared bedside table and reading lamp. Its private bath is finished with Wyoming limestone accents, and floors warmed by radiant heat. The flex room in this property is set-up with two twin beds, creating additional sleeping positions. Across from this room is a bathroom with two sinks, a freestanding shower, and toilet. Wonderfully, the sunny guest corridor opens onto the stone terrace and the hot tub.
The hot tub beckons after an exhilarating day on the trails – whether hiking, heliskiing, biking or horseback riding. In summer, the stone terrace offers front-row seating for watching the paragliders soar across the sky, or colorful hot air balloons rise up into the expansive pink of dawn. Shooting Star is set right next to Teton Village and all the opportunities it has to offer – from the world’s best downhill skiing to sports shops to excellent restaurants. The shops, restaurants, symphony, horseback riding, sleigh ride and festivals in Teton Village are just a few moments way.
