With the East Fork of Fish Creek running through its back and side yards, of course Shooting Star Cabin 10 has multiple outdoor terraces. The biggest is on the south side of the home and has a hot tub for 10 people. A smaller one on the north side has steps down to the lawn where you can set a chair and enjoy your morning cup of coffee on the banks of the creek while looking up at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tram … if you can tear yourself out of the overstuffed sofa just inside the door and near a wood burning fireplace. Because they have to be to compete with these outdoor spaces and views, this cabin’s interiors are gracious and comfortable. The fact it can sleep 12 people is a bonus.
About one mile from the base area of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, this 4-suite cabin has a contemporary layout—the ground-floor kitchen, dining, and living rooms are open to each other—and décor. There are hints of mountain modern style: a wood sculpture of an elk mount hangs above the king size bed in the master suite; a painting in the entry is of a cowboy dragging a Christmas tree through snow behind his horse; the wood floors and the massive exposed ceiling beams are all reclaimed. But the decor doesn’t scream cowboy or western, the home is bright and elegant.
Most of the home’s public spaces have wood floors, while bedrooms all have plush carpeting (often in a fun pattern that plays off similarly colored custom draperies). Artwork is throughout the house, with the exception of the kitchen/dining/living room area; here there’s no room for artwork as the three walls are all windows! The dining table has seats for 8 and a bar sits 4. Kitchen appliances are professional-grade: A 6-burner gas Wolf range and oven, an over/under Sub-Zero refrigerator, and an Omega slow-press juicer. There’s also a Breville espresso machine and a climate-controlled wine fridge. The marble-topped kitchen island has a prep sink. Above the main sink, a window frames the Tetons.
This cabin’s master suite takes up the entirety of the ground-floor north wing. This suite includes a walk-in closet, an oversize bathroom with a deep soaking tub, walk-in shower, separate WC, and dual vanity, a stacked-stone gas fireplace, reading chairs, and a 4-poster king size bed. Windows facing west, north, and east ensure an abundance of natural light.
The home’s other three-bedroom suites, and a loft with two twin daybeds, are all upstairs. A family suite that sleeps four, in a king size bed and two twin beds. This suite also has a wet bar.
Adjacent to this room is a 4-bed bunkroom suite. Its bathroom has a dual vanity and a combined tub/shower.
At the top of the main stairway is a landing that can be used for group hang-outs or sleeping. Two twin daybeds here are set foot-to-foot beneath windows. They are the only beds in the home that do not have their own bathroom (people sleeping here would share the bathroom in an adjacent guest suite). The last guest suite has a bathroom with a double vanity and walk-in shower. Its bed is a king.
Shooting Star is in Teton Village and one of the most popular luxury neighborhoods in Jackson Hole.
