One may think the private location at the end of a road near the top of a butte in the middle of Jackson Hole, on over 13 acres would be the best feature of Above it All, an 8,042-square home that sleeps 14. But upon entering, one realizes its locale doesn’t even scratch the surface of the magic this home entails. In addition to the unparalleled views that one enjoys, there is a professional kitchen, a game room with a Bluetooth jukebox, a pool table, a computerized telescope, and an adjoining 10-seat home theater.
The home’s kitchen is at the southern end of an expansive open space with soaring wood-clad cathedral ceilings, a wall of east-facing windows framing the Sleeping Indian and working ranches below, a stone wood-burning fireplace, a great room, wet bar, sitting area, and dining room. A door off the great room leads to a deck. Tucked off the kitchen is a woody breakfast nook, which is as cozy as it sounds.
The east wing of the main floor is home to the game room and theater with a large deck that extends off the game room. As much as there is to do in this space, it is totally understandable if you settle into the built-in bench beneath a wall of windows framing the Tetons and take in the landscape. At night, take advantage of Jackson Hole’s relatively pristine night sky with a computerized Celestron NexStar telescope that lives in the game room. The scope’s database is programmed with 40,000+ celestial objects that it can automatically locate and track.
Walk downstairs from the game room/theater and you’ll find two bedroom suites, one of which is the junior suite with a reading nook with views in both directions, a private patio, and luxurious bathroom with an oversized shower and jetted tub.
The west wing of the main floor is dedicated to the primary suite, which includes a dedicated home office. A sitting area in the bedroom next to a gas-burning fireplace is framed by windows with views of the Tetons and Sleeping Indian. The primary bath has a walk-in shower and a deep soaking tub with a window facing a young aspen grove that moose sometimes walk through.
On the lower level of the west wing are three guest bedrooms, one of which is a bedroom which shares a bathroom with a media room, which has a sleeper sofa, mini fridge, and a covered patio with a ping-pong table during the warmer months. The next bedroom on this level has its own bathroom. At the end of the hallway is the bunkroom with two twin/twin bunks. Except for the bunk room, all of the other bedrooms in Above it All have king size beds.
Throughout the house, the décor is mountain modern and features a collection of contemporary artwork that includes pieces by painter Andrew Bolam, named an “emerging artist” by Southwest Art magazine in 2019. Above it All is the ideal Jackson Hole retreat for a large family, a couple of families relaxing together, or a group of friends who prize privacy but don’t want to sacrifice the convenience of being close to the amenities of the valley’s main town.
