On the eastern side of the luxe Shooting Star development near Teton Village and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, this 4‑suite contemporary western home is perfect for gatherings of friends or the extended family looking for the ultimate Jackson Hole basecamp.
Designed by Logan Leachman of JLF Associates, a Bozeman, Montana- and Jackson Hole-based architecture firm known for its old-world craftsmanship and pioneering use of reclaimed materials, Four Pines 77 sits on a 1‑acre lot with a seasonal creek running through the backyard. (Yes, you can see and hear this creek while soaking in the home’s outdoor jacuzzi; from this jacuzzi you can also see Jackson Peak and Sleeping Indian, two significant peaks in the Gros Ventre Mountains on the eastern side of Jackson Hole.)
The heart of this home is the ground-floor kitchen/dining/great room and, when the weather permits, the two adjacent stone patios. Throw open the French doors on opposite sides of the space and enjoy indoor/outdoor living. This patio, a portion of which is covered and heated, with a built-in grill and outdoor dining, in addition to the jacuzzi on the other portion of the patio, is particularly good for entertaining — more than double the space that guests have to mingle. Back inside, if it weren’t for the views out this great room’s windows, the cathedral ceilings clad in reclaimed snow fence and the stacked-stone, wood-burning fireplace would grab your attention.
Other public spaces on the ground floor include a laundry room and an oversize mud room. The latter has a custom, steel-banded bench in its center and built-in cabinets around the perimeter. These two rooms are near the entrance to the house from the garage.
At the opposite end of the home from the garage is the primary suite. The only bedroom on the ground floor, it is in a wing of its own and has views of the Gros Ventre Mountains. If you enjoy sunrises, the primary suite is likely the bedroom you’ll want. Here you can sit in bed with your morning coffee and watch the sun climb over Sleeping Indian Mountain. The primary suite also includes a sitting area, natural gas fireplace, walk-in closet and a bathroom with a glass shower and a deep soaking tub. Doors from the suite open to the patio with the jacuzzi. (This patio is also connected to the home via doors in the main public space.)
The remaining sleeping suites are on the second floor. Directly above primary suite is a suite with a queen bed. This room enjoys the same mountain views as the primary suite. Next is a bonus room with two daybeds, a television, and half bath. The third bedroom suite has a queen size bed and a bathroom with two vanities. The final bedroom is the junior suite which has an expansive sitting area. The bathroom has a deep-soaking tub and a walk-in shower. Views from the apartment are of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (to the west) and the Snake River Range (to the south). Right outside this room is a wet bar.
Throughout Four Pines 77, the fixtures, furnishings and artwork are an elegant mix of antique and cozy contemporary.
Shooting Star is a short walk from the base area of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Here you’ll find numerous restaurants, cafes, boutiques, ski/bike shops and also seasonal hiking, biking and skiing. Grand Teton National Park is only a couple of miles away. The town of Jackson is about a 25-minute drive (14 miles). Additional restaurants and shops are at The Aspens, a 10-minute drive from the development. A bike path at Shooting Star’s entrance connects to The Aspens, Jackson, and the small community of Wilson.
