Surrounded by a flat expanse of natural grasses and wildflowers , Munger View’s interior is perfect in its warm, woody simplicity. Come summer and fall, the home invites the outside in with expansive windows and large doors in both the primary suite and the main living/dining/kitchen area. Sit on the sofa in the great room, slide open massive doors on both sides, and listen to the warbles of Western tanagers or the chirps of black-capped chickadees while admiring views of the mountain this home is named for. Or enjoy the same outdoor feeling from the king size bed in the primary suite. It’s perfectly acceptable to wake up, open the doors that are the bedroom’s southeast corner, brew your partner and yourself some coffee, and then, coffee mugs in hand, return to bed and listen to birdsong and the flowers and aspens rustling in the breeze. If you’re planning an autumn trip to Jackson Hole, know that Munger Mountain has some of the best fall colors in the valley. Its slopes, which are visible from every room in this house, are almost entirely covered with aspen trees.
Outside the living room’s doors is a shaded wrap-around deck that is almost equal in square footage to the home’s interior. One of the doors in the primary suite leads to a private deck.
Munger View is perfect for a couple or a family with kids. The home has a gracious primary suite and a loft. A built-in ladder near the kitchen leads to the latter, which has two twin beds and looks down on the kitchen/dining/living area. A bathroom with a walk-in shower is near the ladder’s base. The surrounding “yard” is expansive and offers plenty of opportunities for kids’ explorations. Families also love the paved bike path that passes just in front of Munger View. If you jump on this pathway at the house, it’s a scenic five mile ride into town. In another direction, this pathway connects to a popular system of mountain biking trails.
The main features of the home’s interior public spaces are a two-story wood-burning rock fireplace, soaring wood paneled ceilings, and clerestory windows.
The kitchen includes a microwave, oversize refrigerator, oven, gas stovetop, and a wet bar. A dining table seats six. (That’s just the indoor dining table; a table on the southern deck also seats six.) The home also has a laundry room with space to store jackets and gear.
Steps from the main house, is the garage with additional living and sleeping space above it. Head up the stairs and you walk into an open room, with tall ceilings and natural light. Adjacent, is a bedroom with two twin beds which can be converted into a king.
Munger View is about a 10-minute drive south of downtown Jackson. Once your lodging is secured, a member of The Clear Creek Group Concierge team will work with you to build an itinerary for your visit to Jackson Hole!
