In most homes, an elk antler chandelier in the entry hall would steal the show, but, walking in the front door of Oatgrass Escape, your gaze goes past the custom lighting fixture to the highest peaks of the Teton Range, perfectly framed through a wall of windows on the far side of the great room. (The primary and secondary bedroom suites have the same view … more on that later, though.)
In an intimate neighborhood north of the Town of Jackson and close to the southern boundary of Grand Teton National Park, Oatgrass Escape offers spectacular views of the mountain ranges on either side of Jackson Hole — the Tetons on the west and the Gros Ventres on the east — along with three bedroom suites, plenty of spaces for you to hang out with your friends or family, a gourmet professional kitchen, and an outdoor firepit, all in a location that is convenient to the amenities of downtown Jackson, but removed from town’s hustle and bustle. At Oatgrass Escape, you’ll see more wildlife — think elk, moose, bald eagles, and even bears — than people.
The great room, which is open to the kitchen and includes three dining areas, is the heart of Oatgrass Escape. Here is where you will gather to relax, enjoy meals, and rest and recover after a day of exploring Jackson Hole, all while enjoying Teton views. The adjacent kitchen includes a Wolf oven and induction stovetop, butler’s pantry, Sub-Zero refrigerator-freezer, and an east-facing kitchen sink that has views of Jackson Peak and Sleeping Indian in the Gros Ventre Mountains.
When weather permits, a terrace almost doubles the amount of hang-out space. Accessed from the great room, the primary suite wing, and also from the secondary suite, this terrace has an outdoor dining area, stone fire-pit, grill, and Teton views.
When the terrace is buried beneath snow, you can escape to the downstairs game/media room. Here there’s a game table, a library of boardgames, a wet bar, and a large TV. This area connects to the backyard/terrace via an exterior flight of stairs.
Oatgrass Escape’s primary suite is in its own wing. East of the great room/kitchen and connected to these spaces by a hallway that is half-glass, this suite has a king size bed, a gas fireplace, a spa bathroom with a separate WC, a his-and-hers walk-in closet, and a sitting area.
The bedroom is sited and furnished so that the first things you’ll see every morning are the Tetons — out a wall of windows beyond the foot of the bed. In the bathroom, the windows, which are above a deep soaking tub, don’t frame the Tetons, but the Gros Ventre Mountains.
A secondary suite and family suite are in Oatgrass Escape’s west wing along with a mud room, laundry room, and office area. The secondary suite has similar Teton views to the primary suite, a door that opens directly to the terrace and backyard, a king size bed, a modest walk-in closet, a bathroom with an oversize walk-in shower and a separate WC, and a standalone gas stove.
A family suite has twin bunk beds, a stand-alone full-size bed, and views of the Gros Ventre Mountains. Its bathroom has a double vanity, walk-in shower, and separate WC.
