Upon entering Randonnée Lodge, there are hints that this is an estate home whose owners took a unique approach: there are the nature-inspired materials with light-filled spaces that are hallmarks of mountain modern style, and there’s a sculptural chandelier hanging above the staircase and balcony, clad in reclaimed barn wood applied in a geometric pattern.
Custom-designed and built, the five-bedroom Randonnée Lodge isn’t simply a conveniently located basecamp for your family or group of friends to explore Jackson Hole, but a home that stylishly encourages quality time together in the exclusive Shooting Star community at the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) in Teton Village.
There are public spaces on both of the Lodge’s floors. The main floor has a kitchen open to a dining area as well as great room that connects to outdoor terraces, one of which has a meandering creek and another with a hot tub and fire pit. A wood-burning fireplace makes this space, which has a breakfast nook that looks out at the Teton and Snake River Ranges, a dining table for eight, and a professional kitchen with wine storage and a six-burner + griddle, Miele, gas range — both cozy and elegant.
From the great room, a wall of windows frames Rendezvous Mountain and JHMR’s famous Hoback runs. Settle into the sofa here and you’ll watch the JHMR tram carry skiers and sightseers from the resort’s base area to the 10,450-foot summit.
The upstairs, public space has a foosball table, large-screen TV, sectional seating, wet bar, and yet another wall of windows framing the JHMR tram and Rendezvous Mountain. From here, there’s a deck with stairs leading to the hot tub and fire pit on the terrace, below.
The home can sleep as many as 12 guests. Two of the lodge’s five bedrooms may be found on the ground floor, along with a home office for those who desire time away, but cannot fully disconnect. Fair warning: If you’re planning on working remotely, and you are easily distracted, this home office also has windows facing JHMR. It will be difficult to work and not wish that you were skiing, hiking, or biking.
One of the ground floor bedrooms is a bunk room with four twin beds. The other is the lodge’s secondary suite; it has a king size bed, freestanding deep soaking tub, and private terrace facing the slopes of JHMR. These two bedrooms share a bathroom with a dual vanity and oversized walk-in shower.
The lodge’s primary suite may be found in the west wing of the second floor. It boasts a large, his-and-hers walk-in closet, gas fireplace, a spa bathroom with deep soaking tub and separate WC, sitting area, king bed, private deck, and finally — amazing views!
Just outside this suite, there is a steam room and changing area. Because it is close to, but not within the primary suite, the steam room may be enjoyed by all your guests with no one feeling as though they’re intruding in the primary suite.
A second suite on this floor looks out to the creek running through the backyard and south, down the valley. Its queen bed is complemented by an intimate workspace and a bathroom with a combined shower/bathtub.
The third bedroom on this floor has a queen bed, walk-in closet, and views both towards JHMR and to the east. Whether you like watching skiers or the sunrise, this is the bedroom for you. Its bathroom is immediately outside of the sleeping area, shared with the public space, and has a walk-in shower.
