Retreat on the Creek is an idyllic and exceptionally private sanctuary, yet less than 4 miles from Jackson’s famous Town Square and its many shops and restaurants. Here, you can enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine or beer on the deck listening to Spring Creek flow through the backyard.
Turning off the main road into the neighborhood, pavement gives way to gravel and the landscape opens up. Buildings retreat, replaced by wildflower-rich pastures in summer, and expanses of snow in winter. Mountains rise in every direction. In the autumn, when the aspen-covered slopes of Munger Mountain glow gold to the south, you might miss the turn into the Retreat’s driveway — the colorful scene on the peak in front of you is that stunning. Another only-in-autumn experience is the opportunity to hear elk bugling. Elk aren’t necessarily on the property, but hundreds of them pass through the nearby pastures, which are close enough that you might hear the species’ singular mating call while sitting outside enjoying the sunset or even through an open window.
Pulling up to Retreat on the Creek, you’ll immediately appreciate the privacy afforded by the many aspen and pine trees surrounding it. Walking into the home’s great room, which is open to the kitchen and the dining area, you’ll immediately be greeted by the main peaks of the Teton Range. The Retreat was designed and sited to maximize the views of these mountains, which President Teddy Roosevelt famously described as “what mountains are supposed to look like.” Enjoy the views of these snaggly peaks from the sofa in front of the fireplace, the 10-seat dining table, or the game table. There are even Teton views when you’re mixing cocktails in the great room’s wet bar.
Whether you like to cook or you’re bringing in a private chef, the kitchen is fully equipped and has KitchenAid and Sub-Zero appliances and a spacious butler’s pantry.
There’s a media room on the main level for when your group wants to watch a movie together. But maybe marveling at the Milky Way is more what you have in mind? On the Retreat’s north side, there’s a deck that runs almost the length of the house; it’s the perfect spot from which to gaze at Jackson Hole’s clear night skies.
The Retreat has five bedrooms. The primary suite includes a separate office and is in its own wing on the west side of the main level. The bedroom has Teton views similar to those from the great room and there’s direct access to a deck and the yard. In the bathroom, there’s a double vanity, separate WC, heated floors, oversize walk-in shower, and a deep soaking tub set beneath a window.
Four guest rooms are divided between two upper levels. In the north wing, a bedroom with a king bed and a bedroom with two twin beds share a bathroom with dual vanities and a walk-in shower. Both of these bedrooms have private decks; the deck off the room with the king bed has views of the main Teton peaks and the deck off the other room offers views of the Snake River Range in the southern part of Jackson Hole.
The south wing has two bedrooms, including the third guest bedroom with a a king size bed and a bathroom with a deep soaking tub, walk-in shower, and separate WC. The second suite here is a bunk room with two twin/full bunks. . Its bathroom has a double vanity and shower/tub combo.
