Shooting Star Cabin 4 is a beautiful, rambling, stone and pine structure with a great, barn-like feeling of interior space and loftiness. The cabin is positioned gracefully in the magnificent Shooting Star golf and alpine community where the mountains and stars seem almost close enough to touch. Open the broad front door of the log cabin-like front entrance, and you enter an inviting, welcoming sanctuary.
Cabin 4 centers on a vaulted great room where the living, dining, and kitchen areas flow one into the other, anchored at the end by a handsome wall of stone, where a large wood-burning fireplace is flanked by big picture windows (and whenever you’re gazing at the Tetons, the “big picture” seems to come right into focus). Couches and armchairs face the crackling fire and a flat screen television is mounted in a corner. Family, fire, scenery, movie –wherever the eye comes to rest is a pleasure.
A spectacular dining table stands between the kitchen and the great room, made from a slab of solid walnut, its natural contours and variegated hues lending a slightly wild feeling to an otherwise pristine, contemporary space. Dining chairs upholstered in ivory leather surround the table.
The spacious kitchen has its own eating area – a breakfast bar fronted with three leather-backed stools. Old wood rafters crosshatch the kitchen ceiling, tying this gorgeous vacation rental home to its Wyoming pioneer roots. Wood cabinets, stone counter tops, a luxury gas range and an island with a prep sink make Cabin 4 a dream to cook in.
The primary bedroom waits on the ground floor, in a wing of its own; airy, high-ceilings, and flooded with light. The king bed faces the stone fireplace; windows frame the mountains. A sculptural leather slipper chair and ottoman under a mullioned window create a quiet spot to read the paper. The bathroom is just off the bedroom, fully paneled in cream-painted wood. With double sinks, a soaking tub, a walk-in shower, and plenty of storage, the bathroom’s elegant feel is countermanded by the wild mountainscape outside the windows.
A cozy landing at the top of the stairs opens to a glass-walled corridor, where two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, await. The first is a gracious, sunny room with an upholstered king size bed. The second, a welcoming room with twin beds, each with a matching lamp and side table. A dreamy sheepskin rug lies between them.
A third guest bedroom stands above the garage, a spacious retreat with a private bathroom, which can sleep a small family. A queen bed and two twin beds are set in windowed alcoves.
Two arms of Shooting Star Cabin 4 enclose a great wide stone deck that is a living and dining space of its own. In winter, the hot tub steams away under the stars; outside is a storybook place to unbuckle skis and snowshoes and toast the evening with hot cider and mulled wine. In summer, you can eat every meal out in the sunlight and sweet mountain air. A clear, shallow stream tumbles through the back yard; the kids can frolic, collect treasures, and explore while adults savor the gift of the day.
Shooting Star provides an ideal Jackson Hole location – right in the middle of this wild wonderland, and yet close to the restaurants and entertainment of downtown Jackson. Ask your Clear Creek concierge, and we’ll send a massage therapist to Cabin 4 for a couple’s massage after a day on the slopes, or a private chef to teach you the finer points of preparing cuisine with locally purveyed meats and produce.
