Past the Four Seasons Jackson Hole, several hundred feet above the valley floor and in Teton Village’s exclusive Granite Ridge neighborhood is a home so well-designed that it can sleep 28 people, but can also feel cozy for a family with several active kids. Within Ski In, Tune Out’s 7,184 square feet are five bedroom suites (four of which have a gas burning fireplace), three bedrooms, a hot tub, and two large gathering areas, one of which is a media/game room. When the weather permits, a terraced patio surrounded by mature landscaping adds another dining/entertaining/hang-out space. And, of course, the skiing, hiking, and biking trails of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are right out the door.
Whether you’re looking for the ultimate large group gathering spot or have a smaller group and don’t want any arguments over who gets the bedroom suite with a fireplace, Ski In, Tune Out could be your dream Jackson Hole basecamp.
The entrance sets the tone for this log home — grand, yet welcoming and with some western flair. Custom oversize mica and metal sconces sit on stone-clad exterior walls flanking double French front doors. Enter here, and you’re in the great room, which is open to the professional kitchen, breakfast nook, dining area, and the surrounding forest. The way this property was sited, and the subsequent landscaping give it an aerie, tree-house-like feel. Physically, you might be standing next to a Wolf eight-burner stovetop, but, with aspen trees and lodgepole pines outside the wall of windows to the north, it feels like you’re high up in a forest.
In addition to this large public space, which could be used to entertain, the home’s main floor includes two suites, one of which is the primary suite. The latter is in the west wing and has soaring cathedral ceilings, a gas burning fireplace, a spa bathroom, a door to the patio and outdoor dining area, a generous walk-in closet, and a king bed.
The primary suite’s spa bathroom includes a double vanity, sunken, jetted deep soaking tub, separate WC, and an oversized walk-in shower with two shower heads.
This floor’s second bedroom suite is in the home’s eastern wing. It has two queen beds, a walk-in shower, single vanity, and walk-in closet. Sharing this wing of the home is the first (of two) laundry rooms.
Both Ski In, Tune Out’s lower level and second levels are dedicated to sleeping and casual hanging out.
Upstairs — treads are halved logs — a gallery offers a sitting area and looks out to the great room. A bedroom with a set of twin trundle beds and a large TV is in the west wing. At the other end of the gallery, in the east wing, you’ll find the secondary suite, which has a king size bed, gas burning fireplace, the same jetted, deep soaking tub as in the primary bathroom, a separate WC, sitting area, and walk-in shower. A bonus bedroom with two queen beds is off the secondary suite.
The lower level has two suites and one bedroom, and also the second laundry room and a locker room where you can prep for a dip in the backyard hot tub.
The lower level bedroom is a bunk room. The two bunks are custom and have twin beds on top and queen beds on the bottom. Each of these four beds has its own reading light and storage. While there is not a bathroom in the bunk room, it is just across the hall and has a large walk-in shower.
Both of the lower level suites have a gas fireplace. One has two queen beds and the other a king bed. The suite with a king bed has a bathroom with a deep soaking tub and a walk-in shower. The suite with two queens has an ample walk-in shower.
It’s unlikely anyone sleeping downstairs will spend much time in their room, though. The heart of the lower level is the media/game room — think smart recliners, a ping pong table, and foosball.
