Drive up and up to almost the 7,411-foot summit of East Gros Ventre Butte, and then descend just a bit to Teton Perspective, a six-suite, 8,000-square-foot house that seemingly hangs off the hillside. Anywhere else, the home’s art collection — which includes works by artists as varied and notable as Frederick Remington, William H Clarke II, and Joan Miro, and also antique and contemporary weather vanes, Buddhist thangka paintings, and cigar store Native American sculptures — would be the highlight. But even with this museum-quality artwork, the views out Teton Perspective’s windows and walls of glass are hard to tear your gaze from. Below, stretch ranch-lands and pastures; look out and across the valley and the Tetons feel close enough to touch.
Teton Perspective is the Jackson Hole vacation home for a family or group of friends who don’t want only spectacular views of the Tetons, but also an enlivening and intriguing interior space.
This dual personality of Teton Perspective is established as soon as you enter through its oversize double front doors: Two- and three-dimensional art works greet you in the foyer and here the western wall is glass, through which you can see the entire expanse of the Teton range. The home’s generous great room follows the same program, the only difference being that it has two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass door that leads to an outdoor terrace (on which there is a hot tub).
The great room, which opens to a professional kitchen and a dining area that has table seating for 14, is the heart of the home’s north wing. Also here is the garage, mud room, and butler’s pantry. This area is designed to feel comfortable for both large groups and small gatherings — bring in a professional chef and entertain everyone, or relax and enjoy an intimate family meal.
Teton Perspective’s two-story southern wing is devoted to six bedroom suites, an office, a media room, steam shower, and a game room.
The primary suite faces the Tetons and has an oversize walk-in shower, a deep-soaking tub, a double vanity, his-and-hers walk-in closets, and big Teton views. This suite has an office connected to the bathroom and also accessed through the main hallway. A second suite is on this floor, down an art-filled hallway and at the opposite end of the wing from the primary suite.
Because Teton Perspective was sited into the side of East Gros Ventre Butte so thoughtfully, the four bedroom suites, including the secondary suite, on the home’s hill-level all have Teton views and direct access to ground-level terraces. The secondary suite is separated from the three other bedroom suites by the game room; it sits beneath the primary suite, allowing for views of the entire Teton range.
The three other bedroom suites on this level are similar in size to each other; the main difference between them in the artwork displayed in each, and two of the three have King beds. There is a washer and dryer on each level of the home.
Teton Perspective is a 15 minute drive from the amenities of downtown Jackson; Teton Village and the ski slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are about 25 minutes away. The main entrance (Moose) of Grand Teton National Park is also about 25 minutes away.
