All In A Winter’s Week (A Five-Day Jackson Hole Winter Itinerary)
Visiting Jackson Hole during the winter is a special treat. From the moment you step off the plane and view the majestic display of white peaks, you know you’re not in Kansas anymore. For skiers, this awakens a sense of “coming home” — a return to the mountains to enjoy the sport that fills the soul. And for non-skiers, there’s still plenty of wintertime fun to be had. From sleigh rides to snowmobile tours to cozying up in a beautiful winter abode, our five-day itinerary helps you make the most out of your visit.
Day One
8:00 AM: Get ready for pick up at Smoky Hollow, a four-bedroom in-town residence, bordering the National Elk Refuge. This spacious home is within walking distance of town and boasts multiple relaxation spaces as well as a spa-style master bathroom with a deep soaking tub for the après.
Your guided half-day Backcountry Safaris Snowmobile Tour takes you through mountainous terrain, lending unobstructed views of downtown Jackson and the Teton Range. You’ll carve through fresh snow on the largest private ranch in Jackson, Wyoming, with expert snowmobile guides who will teach you how to operate user-friendly sleds. The excursion includes a break along the Snake River to enjoy snacks and refreshments.
12:00 PM: After the morning adventure, head to Teton Village to enjoy lunch at Corsa, a family-friendly restaurant and pizzeria offering Italian classics in a warm and vibrant space, complete with a cozy fireplace.
3:00 PM: After lunch and a little relaxation, head to The Body Sage Spa at the Rusty Parrot Lodge to enjoy a massage, a facial, or one of the spa’s signature rituals inspired by traditional Japanese bathhouse experiences. The newly expanded and renovated spa also features a relaxation room with beverages and spa snacks, a seasonal outdoor space for classes, and a hot tub. Arrive early to jump-start your tranquility.
6:00 PM: It’s time to settle in and order take-out from Hatch Taqueria & Tequilas, a downtown restaurant that features a family-style to-go menu. (And if you’re walking home, grab one of “Jackson Hole’s Best Margaritas” while you wait for your food.)
Day Two
7:30 AM: Head to Teton Village and park in the centrally located Crystal Springs Lot at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Grab a pastry and coffee on your way to the chairlifts at Southcable Café, located in the Caldera House at Teton Village.
9:00 AM: Expert skiers should head straight to the Tram Line to enjoy first tracks in Rendezvous Bowl (Psst! Even if it’s not a powder day, the bowl is often ”re-groomed” overnight by the wind with new fluffy snow.) Intermediate skiers can head towards one of the mountain’s two gondolas, the Bridger Gondola, for more varied terrain, or to the Sweetwater Gondola for gentler runs.
12:00 PM: Meet at the top of the Bridger Gondola to eat at Piste Mountain Bistro for lunch (reservations recommended). This upscale lunch spot serves dishes made with locally sourced ingredients and boasts a hopping bar scene. Plus, the views are jaw-dropping. (Request a window table.)
1:30 PM — 4:00 PM: Hit the slopes for a few more runs before grabbing a drink outside by the fire at the slopeside Handle Bar, located on the ground floor of the Four Seasons Resort. Mingle with locals and tourists alike while people-watching the après scene that unfolds by the gondolas.
3:00 — 5:00 PM: Enjoy appetizers and drinks at Osteria Italian Restaurant’s Happy Hour in Teton Village, where you can indulge in Italian favorites, like fried calamari, a salumi board, and mussels served with crusty local 460 Bread. Don’t forget to order an Aperol spritz!
Day Three
8:00 AM: Grab breakfast at Persephone Bakery, a Parisian-style café with two locations: Town Square and The Aspens on Teton Village Road. Enjoy a steaming hot cappuccino and a croissant, or the bakery’s signature Quiche Lorraine with a side of greens.
9:00 AM: Head to the Call of the WYld office, on Granite Loop Road in Teton Village, where you will load into dogsleds pulled by a team of Alaskan huskies and driven by a qualified guide. This one-hour private dogsled tour will glide you through a small, wooded section of land on groomed trails, with sweeping views of the Teton Range.
12:00 PM: Drive into Wilson and eat lunch at Nora’s Fish Creek Inn, a local favorite and a Jackson Hole “institution” since 1982. Sample the restaurant’s Idaho Trout with Crinkle Fries to savor local fare pulled from regional waters.
2:00 PM: Head down the road for a fun and interactive family-friendly learning session at the Raptor Center. Designed for curious young minds, this engaging program introduces participants to the area’s hawks, owls, eagles, and falcons via exciting facts, hands-on activities, and engagement with live birds.
5:00 PM: Order take-out from Teton Thai before heading back to your cozy rental to enjoy a movie in the in-home theater.
Day Four
8:00 AM: Grab a to-go breakfast and coffee at Hayden’s Post at Snow King Resort, and enjoy mountain views of Snow King as you wait.
9:00 AM: Intermediate skiers can hit the slopes at Snow King, while beginners and kids take private half-day ski lessons. Non-skiing adults (and kids wanting to take the day off from skiing) can enjoy snowtubing at the resort’s King Tubes Park or ride the on-mountain rollercoaster, the Cowboy Coaster. (Yes, it’s open in the winter.) The Winter Big King Pass gives you an unlimited-use day pass to all the winter activities at Snow King, including skiing, tubing, and the coaster.
12:00 PM: After the morning fun at Snow King, enjoy home-cooked classics for lunch at Café Genevieve, located in a historic log cabin on the Town Square.
2:00 PM — 4:00 PM: Family members can round out their day on the mountain or indulge in treatments at Grand View Spa at Snow King Resort. Here, elegant, contemporary healing spaces utilize the natural elements of water, salt, stone, and wood to create a warm, discreet, and private oasis for your well-being.
6:00 PM: Hit the town for a creative culinary experience at Gather, a restaurant serving modern, eclectic cuisine using locally-sourced ingredients. Trust us — you’ll be dreaming about the restaurant’s Ssamjang Marinated Wyoming Ribeye for months. Gather also offers prix fixe Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner spreads.
Adults can literally “saddle up” to the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar (the bar stools are actual saddles) to get a taste of Jackson’s nightlife after hours.
Day Five
9:00 AM: It’s your last day in town, so enjoy sleeping in. Build a fire in the property’s wood-burning fireplace, curl up on the couch with a book, and take in the winter wonderland outside one last time.
11:00 AM: Head to Town Square to pick up souvenirs as mementos of your trip. Browse a collection of shops, including MADE, Mountain Dandy, M by Made, and Murcell’s Sweet Shop (for the kids). These artisan boutiques feature a carefully curated selection of handmade goods from American artists. Shop for jewelry, leather goods, home goods, and, of course, some Jackson Hole bling.
3:00 PM: Cap off your trip with a private sleigh ride dinner, courtesy of Vintage Adventures. This premier offering includes a vintage sleigh ride, topped off with a delicious dinner. Upon reaching the Tipi Camp from pickup at the Stillson Lot in Wilson, you will warm up with hot beverages and delectable appetizers around a crackling campfire. Then, you’ll transition to the heated dining tent where chefs prepare and serve bison, black cod, halibut, Wagyu beef, or salmon, cooked to order, and accompanied by fresh vegetable sides. The meal concludes with a triple-berry crisp, served in a candlelit teepee.
