Activities
A family trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming will be one for the books when it’s packed with exciting activities.
Snow King Mountain
Don’t let the name fool you — as the mountain is open year-round — and full of fun things to do in Jackson Hole with kids. Whether summer or winter, the Cowboy Coaster is a wild rollercoaster-type ride of loops, twists, turns, and curves that show off the natural landscape as you zoom 45 stories down — past hikers, skiers, and snowboarders. Speed demons welcomed. Save time and complete your online liability waiver here. If you want the same views at a much slower pace, there’s also a brand-new scenic gondola that replaced the Rafferty Lift, a classic visitor favorite. We highly recommend stopping by Snow King Mountain on your trip — they also have miniature golf, a zip-line, and a ropes course to keep your kids busy — for hours of uninterrupted fun. Check out the full range of activities on their website.
Feathered Float
One of the most unique experiences the area has to offer, this adventure takes guests on a 3 – 4 hour guided boat tour down the Snake River on a beautiful, solid, vintage wooden boat. Sit, relax, and point out all the exciting wildlife as you float by. Book on a Friday and get a free 45-minute Raptor Encounter at the Teton Raptor Center, a great spot if you have any birders in the family. Learn all about the local flora and fauna from your guide and take pride in educating your kids while on vacation. Book your tour here.
Take a Hike
Lighten up your day by taking some time out to hike and explore the landscape up close. The Snake River is a great place to hike with your family because you can see lots of wildlife, including bears! Just remember — never hike alone in bear country — always have someone else with you when exploring this scenic area. There are also plenty of national parks nearby. Want a reliable guide? Hole Hiking Experience is known for knowledgeable, friendly guides that know all the best spots for views, wildlife, and local fun. Stargazing with Teton Skies
Stare up at the evening sky in awe at the Teton Heights Observatory for “astronomy under dark skies” near Grand Teton National Park with Astrophysicist, Ryan Hennessey. There are different programs offered through the winter season, like telescope viewings and planetarium shows. Your family will be sure to enjoy breathtaking views of the galaxy from the top of the world, surrounded by some of the area’s most beautiful panoramas. You definitely don’t want to miss the sunset — as the dusk sky changes from yellow, to brilliant orange and rusty reds in an orchestra of colors before letting the stars of the show appear. Reserve your spot here.
