Five Favorite Aprés Ski Spots with Firelight in Jackson Hole

Completing an exhilarating ski day at one of Jackson’s iconic resorts is reward in and of itself, but socializing afterwards adds revelry to the alpine adventure. As the glow of dusk paints the mountain tops a dusty pink and the lifts stop spinning, warm firepits and authentic laughter draw skiers to the common areas at the bottom of the ski runs where après ski takes over. Lively music, patios alit with firelight, and a delicious array of appetizers ranging from wood fired pizza to authentic fondue and stiff drinks invite celebration. Here are five of Jackson Hole’s most idyllic après ski spots that are perfect for winding down near a cozy fire.

1. The Alpenhof

Centrally located in Teton Village next to the Aerial Tram and even closer to the Bridger Gondola, the Swiss-styled Alpenhof welcomes skiers for a robust, alpine-influenced après ski experience. Situated in a charming chalet with craftsman details, it is here you can gather with friends around a traditionally tiled fireplace, toast the day with steins filled with Bavarian beer, and nosh on authentic Swiss fondue. You will feel as though you’ve been transported to Switzerland and beyond, especially amid the backdrop of traditional polka tunes performed live by The Hof Band every Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

2. Il Villagio Osteria

Enjoy post-skiing festivities with the warm and savory flavors of an authentic Italian tavern at Il Villagio Osteria, an eatery tucked into the Hotel Terra near the base of Rendezvous Mountain at the heart of Jackson Hole Ski Resort. Here a flaming, gas-fired oven delivers some of the valley’s best après-ski pizzas, while their salumi bar and imported cheeses make a spectacular charcuterie board to enjoy as pre-dinner appertivi. Comfortable seating, along with an outdoor fireplace and expansive wine list, complete the authentic après ski experience reminiscent of Italy’s Alps.

3. Persephone Bakery

Just a block from Jackson’s Town Square and a short 15-minute walk from Snow King Resort, Persephone’s refreshing, outdoor patio with table seating centered around a lava rock firepit is the ideal stopover after an early day of skiing on Jackson’s Town Hill.” Perfect for the whole family, it is common to see locals and travelers in their ski gear sharing the après-ski vibe here in the early afternoon as the sun sinks behind the mountains. After three o’clock, hot drinks and pastries are served on a first-come, first-served basis until closing time at 6:00 p.m. Their steamed-milk hot chocolate topped with two carefully placed, house-made peppermint marshmallows is a go-to for the kids (and the kids at heart), while their s‑mores cookies are a sell-out hit with the kids” too.

4. Dornan’s Pizza and Pasta Company

After a day out in the invigorating and spectacularly beautiful Grand Teton National Park, step indoors to celebrate at this truly historic gem in Moose, Wyoming. At Dornan’s Pizza and Pasta Company, you’ll find tables full of friends and a bar dotted with gritty locals. The casual simplicity of rustic wood floors, a traditional stone fireplace, and wood-paneled walls lined with historic photographs will take you back to earlier times when skiers stashed their equipment near the door after a day of cross-country skiing at the base of the Tetons. Pizza and hearty soups of the day are mainstays, while an adjacent world-class wine shop and local brews served on tap at the Spur Bar provide adult refreshment. With unobstructed, panoramic views of the Tetons and Snake River, this is a mandatory rest stop after an active day of skiing or snowshoeing in the park. Think of it as après Nordic.

5. Fahrenheit Forty Seven

Situated slope-side in Teton Village is the magical, igloo-style Fahrenheit Forty Seven at the Four Seasons. With superb, 180-degree views of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, the intimate champagne bar is a unique, base-mountain experience. Aptly named for the ideal temperature to serve champagne, the pop-up, clear-dome igloo and adjacent exterior lounge complete with a fireplace, fire pits and cozy seating are perfect for warming up between ski runs or relaxing at the end of the day. Surrounded by sparkling snow and the muted glow of the late-afternoon sun overhead, here you will enjoy an elevated après ski with bubbly refreshment provided by Moët & Chandon.
